At AYRES Beauty, we take a very natural and holistic approach to caring for your body. Lucky

for all of us, there are more than enough wonderfully effective naturally-occurring plants, foods,

and other resources that Mother Nature produces!

Quite the trending topic, coconut oil is the latest product to hit the market and

make a big splash. The main reason why is because of the variety of ways in which it can be

used and, consequently, its various benefits.

Let’s take a look at the benefits that coconut oil has to offer:

1. Great Fat Burner: Coconut oil is made up of medium-chain triglycerides which can increase

energy expenditure significantly more than the same amount of calories derived from other

longer chain fats. According to this study, consuming 15-30 grams of medium-chain glycerides,

like the kind found in coconut oil, per day, increased energy expenditure over a 24-hour period

by 5%; totaling about 120 calories per day, or 840 calories per week.

2. Helps Reduce Hunger: Consuming coconut oil, daily, can help reduce your hunger and

prolong satiation. This property is believed to be related to the way that the fatty acids are

metabolized. According to this study, 6 healthy men were instructed to

eat varying amounts of medium and long-chain triglycerides for a period of time, and the results

showed that the subjects who ate the most medium-chain triglycerides (derived from coconuts)

ate an average of 256 fewer calories per day.

Another similar study was conducted with 14 participants and produced similar results. And

despite these studies being relatively small in scale, there's good reason to believe that long

term consumption of coconut oil could have a significantly beneficial influence on body weight.

3. It contains Antibacterial, Antiviral, and Antifungal Properties: Nearly half of the fatty acids

found in coconut oil are Lauric Acid, a 12-carbon compound. When the coconut oil is digested,

it also forms a monoglyceride called monolaurin. Together, these two compounds can ward off

harmful pathogens like fungi, viruses, and bacteria, and keep your immune system balanced and healthy.

Studies have shown that these substances have the ability to kill the bacteria Staphylococcus

Aureus (what causes Staph infections) and the yeast Candida Albicans (a common source of

yeast infections in women).

4. A healthy heart: Loaded with saturated fats, coconut oil, contrary to popular belief, is not

detrimental to maintaining healthy blood lipid levels.

According to this study, 40 women saw a reduction in total and low-density lipoprotein

cholesterol (while increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol; the good kind) after consuming

coconut oil vs. soybean oil.

Studies in both humans and rats have shown that coconut oil improves important risk factors

like Total, LDL and HDL cholesterol, which, in turn, may lead to a reduction in the risk for

developing heart disease.

5. Your hair and skin's new favorite product: Aside from the various benefits associated with

consuming coconut oil, this seemingly magical oil also serves purposes that have nothing to do

with digestion!

Coconut oil’s popularity is increasing for cosmetic purposes and to improve the appearance and

health of both skin and hair.

Coconut oil can also protect against hair damage, by blocking about 20% of the sun's UV rays.

It's about time you get your hands on some quality coconut oil and test these amazing benefits!

Your body, hair and skin, will thank you! And you can thank us, later.
